The major area we visited was the Classical Antiquities with contains both Greek and Roman statues.
On the walk over we saw this view of the Terrace of the “Niche of the Fir Cone” It was cool to it in this setting.

The Classical Antiquities Department is one of the largest sections of the Vatican Museums and includes all the statuary, both Greek and Roman, of the ancient papal collection. Dr. Giandomenico Spinola is the curator of this department that contains some of the most famous and fascinating areas of the Vatican Museums.
It was really interesting to hear some of the stories on where these statues originated. I really liked this area as well, the décor was open and airy and you can tell a lot of the architecture back in the states is based on this.
In one section there were red walls with smaller plaster pieces hung on them.
Statue of Hercules and Telephus This is a portrait of either Gaius or Lucius Caesar A statue of a boy Another great ceiling in this section of the museum – see the sculptures in the corners.
Ancient replica of the Apoxyomenos of Lysippos I loved this room. It was set up like a big courtyard with plants and trees, but it was covered. It felt like you were surrounded by all these buildings, but they were just facades. Here is the close up of the plaque on one of the walls. Here is Venus with Cupid This is Perseus with the Head of Medusa These are some of the scenes on the walls.
This is Sarcophagus with a statue of the Personification of the Tigris River There were also other random things on display – like a bath tub, so I thought I would have a little fun. No I am not actually in the tub.
